Purpose

MurderIndex is an educational and research tool that collates publicly available information about convicted murderers for criminology students, researchers, journalists and historians. It is not an official record and is not affiliated with any law-enforcement or government body.

Accuracy & no warranty

Records are collated automatically from public-domain sources and may contain errors, omissions, outdated details or artefacts of automated processing.
Victim counts and classifications reflect a stated figure (alleged, convicted or estimated) and are not a legal determination of guilt.
The information is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. Verify anything important against primary sources before relying on it.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss or harm arising from use of this site.

Submissions

When you submit an amendment or additional material, you agree that:

The information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
Updates without verifiable references are unlikely to be approved.
Removal requests will not be accommodated.
If clarification is needed you must leave an email address; without one we may be unable to approve the change.
You grant us a non-exclusive right to store, review and (if approved) publish your submission. Do not submit content you do not have the right to share, or anything unlawful, defamatory or private.

Acceptable use

Do not use the site or its data to harass, threaten, endanger or defame any individual.
Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the site or its admin area.
Automated bulk downloading/scraping of the site is not permitted.
You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with the laws of your jurisdiction.

Concerns about a record

If you believe a record is inaccurate, use the “Suggest amendment” tool on that profile with verifiable references. Please note the removal policy above.
