The offence

On separate occasions in 1993, Beagle killed two hunters in separate attacks. Both men were shot at close range, and then robbed.

Investigation

Beagle confessed during the 9-hour standoff that he had killed the two hunters in separate attacks in 1993. Police had questioned him about the slayings of two hunters. Police hadn't checked Beagle for weapons when he came to the police station because he came to them voluntarily.

Arrest

Beagle locked himself in a police station bathroom with his gun while being questioned by police.

Outcome

During the shoot-out with police, Billy Ray Beagle died. He committed suicide during the shoot-out with police on March 25, 1998.
