Background
Laxma Reddy was a medical professional. The family was originally from Andhrapradesh in southern India and moved to the United States so he could study medicine. He received his medical degree in August 1979 from Gandhi Medical College in India. He interned at Cabrini Medical Center in New York City from July 1993 to June 1994.
Reddy left in the middle of his second year of residency in internal medicine at St. Luke's Hospital in Cleveland.
The offence
On March 18, 1997, Laxma Reddy killed his wife, her 13-year-old daughter, and his father-in-law in Brookline, Massachusetts. The three victims were shot in the head execution-style in their beds.
Investigation
After the familicide was discovered, investigators turned to Reddy as a suspect when they determined that the killer used a key to enter the apartment.
Arrest
Three days after March 18, 1997, after an All-Points-Bulletin was put out for him, Reddy was shot and killed when he pulled a gun on a sheriff's deputy during an unrelated traffic stop in Elko, Nevada.
Other details
After discovering the bodies, Brookline police and Massachusetts State Police flew to Cleveland, Reddy’s last known address. They learned that Reddy had left in the middle of his second year of residency in internal medicine at St. Luke's Hospital in Cleveland. Friends said Reddy had recently visited his family in Brookline but had not been seen in weeks.
