Background
Gregorio Arellano was executed in the Nevada State Prison on July 24, 1951. He was born in Hanford, California in 1923, but lived the majority of his life in Mexico. Arellano had been employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad until two weeks before the murder. He had known Esperanza Rodriguez, but they had never dated.
Arellano seemed obsessed with Rodriguez, and was under the assumption that she was his girl. He had been drinking almost steadily for about thirty hours before the time of the shooting.

Esperanza Rodriguez was murdered on August 10, 1949. Arellano shot her three times in the back.
Investigation
Arellano shot Esperanza Rodriguez three times in the back after she walked past the bar following finishing work at Hilp's Drug Store in Sparks, Nevada.
Aftermath
Arellano attempted suicide after shooting Rodriguez, but he eventually recovered. He was sent to the State Prison and was executed by the state on July 24, 1951. He was executed for the murder of Esperanza Rodriguez on August 10, 1949.
