Background

Manfred Wittman was known as “The Beast of Oberfranken”.

The offence

On December 25, 1959, Manfred Wittman attacked and mutilated 19-year-old Irmgard Feder after a motion-picture attendance in Freiberg, Germany. He forced the woman to get undressed, she threw on the ground, stuck with his pocketknife and raped her. She survived.

In December 19, 1968, 14-year-old Nora Wenzl was slashed to ribbons by Manfred Wittman in Staffelstein, Germany.

On November 15, 1969, Sieglinde Hübner, aged 16, was mutilated and her throat cut by Manfred Wittman in Kaltenbrunn, Germany.

In August and November 1969, Manfred Wittman killed both 16-year-old girls Helga Luther from bright cliff and Sieglinde Heubner from Kaltenbrunn.

Trial

On December 15, 1971, the Coburger court of assizes sentenced Manfred Wittman to three lifelong terms imprisonment.
