Background
Randy Haight was born 7-18-52. He spent all but two of his 15 adult years in four Ohio prisons, three Virginia prisons, and four Kentucky prisons. He was awaiting trials in three counties while held at Johnson County Jail.
The offence
Randy Haight murdered Patricia Vance and David Omer on August 22, 1985. The bodies of Vance and Omer were discovered inside their car near Herrington Lake in Garrad County.
Investigation
After the murders, Randy Haight escaped from Johnson County Jail while awaiting trial. He stole guns and several cars, shot at a Ky. State Police Trooper, and caused another police officer’s death in a gunfight.
In the killings of Vance and Omer, Haight shot the man in the face, chest, shoulder, and back of head. He shot the woman in the shoulder, temple, back of head, and through the eye.
