Background
Abdelali Amer, alias Boussemma, was 44 years old. He was described as a serial killer in Morocco and was identified as the second popular serial killer in Morocco after Abdelali Hida, the paedophile of Taroudante, was sentenced to death. He had been released from prison in 2004 after being charged with the raping of an old woman, and he then started a series of crimes.
The offence
Abdelali Amer killed fourteen people and deprived them of their possessions. His crimes were carried out along the coasts of Rabat and Salé and the banks of the Bouregreg River. The case also described four other people as subject to his aggression, and stated that four murder attempts were fortunately prevented.
Abdelali Amer was charged with the violation and the killing of ten young children on Dec.2, 2004 by the Court of Appeal in Agadir.
Investigation
Police found a corpse violently bitten on Aug. 01 near the wholesale market in Akkari neighborhood in Rabat and started a series of investigations. The case described that inhabitants of Souika in Rabat and Bab Rahba in Salé decided not to return to these places.
Arrest
Abdelali Amer, alleged author of 14 murders, was arrested on Aug. 09. He was brought before the Court of Appeal in the Moroccan capital Rabat on Friday. He was detained in Rabat on August 16, 2005.
